MIW II - Legacy
Directional Power Protection System

Manufacturing for this product has been discontinued. As an alternative, please refer to the Multilin 350 or 889 relays.

The MIW II, a member of the M II Family of Relays, is a digital device that provides directional power and loss of field protection for generators. Operation of the MIW II is based on the calculated direction of 3 phase power flow. The MIW II can be ordered with either one of the following two option packages:
  • Four protection elements for directional power
  • Three protection elements for directional power, one loss of field element, and one fuse failure element

  • 6 outputs, four configurable, plus trip and alarm

Monitoring and Metering
  • Metering values for Ia, voltage values, P, Q, S, V1, V2, and angle
  • 24-event record
  • Analog/digital oscillography - 24 cycles at 8 samples per cycle
  • Information displayed on last 5 relay trips

User Interface
  • 2x16 character LCD display
  • 6 LED indicators with 4 configurable in function and in color
  • Front RS232 and rear RS485 ports using ModBus® RTU protocol up to 19,200 bps
  • EnerVista software - an industry leading suite of software tools that simplifies every aspect of working with GE Multilin devices
