Of increasing importance to the ITS industry is a cost effective and efficient method to transport critical surveillance and detection video from signalized intersections and freeway locations back to the traffic management center.

In the majority of the networks deployed to date, the communication system used to transport video is separate from the system used for VMS, traffic monitoring, toll collection etc. These distinct systems require additional hardware, resources and other supporting infrastructure. Subsequently, they can be difficult to manage.

GE’s Lentronics Multiplexer provides efficient integration of voice, data, IP/Ethernet and video traffic over one optical communication network. Lentronics Multiplexers (JungleMUX SONET, TN1U SDH and TN1Ue SDH) support the transport of analog video with an integrated digital compression subsystem and IP video through its Ethernet interface modules.
